About me

An EFT International accredited and certified Practitioner
Originally studying languages at university and having had a colourful and diverse working life encompassing TV production, performance, voiceover and education, amongst other things, I feel very lucky to have experienced such a varied life. However I've always felt that there must also be an easier way to be and that life need not be such a struggle. Growing up and living in London I took stress, overwhelm, pressure, being constantly tired, drained, run down and frequently ill for granted as an unavoidable and inevitable part of life. However, as I was increasingly drawn to meditation, being in nature and taking time to just "be" I came across EFT (or tapping, as it is also known). Since learning about, and integrating, tapping into my daily routine I've felt freer and lighter than I have ever been in my adult life. It didn't take long before I felt compelled to train to become an EFT Practitioner so that I could help empower others to experience this feeling of liberation and empowerment in their lives too.
What is EFT and how can it help me?
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques or Tapping)
EFT is a form of energy psychology that works by tapping gently on the end of meridian points while voicing the negative emotion. It has been referred to as acupuncture without the needles, or like having a talking therapy and massage at the same time. EFT can be very effective for dealing with many issues including anxiety, phobias, physical pain, PTSD and other trauma. EFT has been around since 1995 when it was founded by Gary Craig with his discovery statement that: "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system". By tapping gently on the 9 basic EFT points whilst vocalising the negative (e.g. "this anxiety") the disruption can be shifted. EFT can access, and change, subconscious beliefs which could otherwise be extremely challenging to discover without the help of this powerful tool. Whilst it can be very effective as a self-help tool, sometimes it may be necessary to enlist the help of an EFT Practitioner in order to shift more stubborn issues, or perhaps simply to feel nurtured and supported with someone holding the space for you.
How to tap (the basic recipe)
1. Identify the issue (e.g pain or emotion)
2. Rate the intensity (10 for the most intense pain or emotion down to 0 for no pain/emotionally neutral)
3. Create a "set up statement" about what is happening (pain/emotion e.g. "lower back pain"/"sadness" followed by an affirmation: "I deeply and completely love and accept myself".
"Even though I have this lower back pain I deeply and completely love and accept myself"
4. Repeat this set up statement 3 times whilst tapping on the meridian point known as the Side of the Hand (or Karate Chop point as it is also known).
5. Create a reminder phrase.
“this lower back pain / this stabbing pain” (choose your own words).
6. Tap through the points, as on diagram below, whilst saying a reminder phrase such as "this pain"
(Start on the Side of Hand, then beginning of Eyebrow, Side of eye, Under eye, Under nose, Chin, Collarbone, Under arm and end on the Top of Head).
Rate the intensity of the issue after every round or two of tapping. Your number may have increased, decreased, changed to a different emotion/pain in a different place or it could have stayed the same. All of these are ok.
If your number has reduced but isn't at 0 then keep tapping until it is. If your number has increased then you may need to adjust the set-up statement to reflect any new feelings that have come up. Emotions/pain may change as you tap so it's important to change your language to reflect these changes.
